Biblical Proof that Jesus is God

In many, many places the Bible references, referrers to and calls Jesus, God, Here are just a few!

1 Timothy 3:16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

1 Thessalonians 5:18 In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

Hebrews 1:8 But unto the Son (Jesus) He (Father) saith, Thy throne, O God, is forever and ever: a scepter of righteousness is the scepter of thy Kingdom.

Acts 20:28 Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost (Spirit) hath made you overseers, to feed the Church of God, which He hath Purchased with His Own Blood.

Zechariah 12:10 And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon Me (Jesus) whom they have pierced {Crucified}, and they shall mourn for Him, as one mourneth for his Only Son, and shall be in bitterness for Him, as one that is in bitterness for his Firstborn.

It is Jesus that shed "His Own Blood" and died on the Cross for us. Since Adam and Eve all humans are conceived and born as sinners. Sin separates us from the Holy God. Because we were separated by sin from God there could not be a gathering, a Church of God's people. The penalty of sin is death and the shedding of Blood is the proof of death. Jesus bled and died on the Cross proving His death and in dying paying the penalty for our sins. Three days later Jesus then Resurrected into a Spiritual body to Create His Church by giving His Church New Eternal Spiritual Life, without sin, and with Himself. The Church is a gathering of fellowship with people who's sins are forgiven and who are now close to and in fellowship with God.

Ephesians 5:25 Husbands, Love your wives, even as Christ also loved the Church, and gave Himself for it.

1 Corinthians 10:32 Give none offense, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to the Church of God.

Jesus Himself forgave sins and allowed Himself to be worshiped as only the one and only true God can.

Mark 2:5-12 When Jesus saw their faith, He said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins be forgiven thee. But there were certain of the scribes sitting there, and reasoning in their hearts, Why doth this man thus speak blasphemies? who can forgive sins but God only? But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, He saith to the sick of the palsy, I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy bed, and go thy way into thine house. And immediately he arose, took up the bed, and went forth before them all; insomuch that they were all amazed, and glorified God, saying, We never saw it on this fashion.

John 9:35-38 Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when He had found him, He said unto him, Dost thou believe on the Son of God? he answered and said, Who is He, Lord, that I might believe on Him? And Jesus said unto him, Thou hast both seen Him, and it is He that talketh with thee. And he said, Lord, I believe. And he Worshipped Him.

In the Greek Language that the original New Testament Bible was written in the word "and" is also an "=" sign.

Words that are grouped together using the word "and" have equal significance and are equal in meaning and substance.

For example:

James 1:27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

James 1:1 James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad, greeting.

1 Thessalonians 3:11 Now God Himself and our Father, and our Lord Jesus Christ, direct our way unto you.

2 Corinthians 1:3 Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort;

2 Peter 1:11 For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting Kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

John 18:36 Jesus answered, My Kingdom is not of this world: if My Kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should be not delivered to the Jews: but now is My Kingdom not from hence.

Jesus has always existed as God.

Philippians 2:5-8 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made Himself of no reputation, and took upon Him the form of a servant, and was made into the likeness of men: and being found in fashion as a man, He humbled Himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death on the cross.

The Judgment and Inheritance belong to Jesus

Psalm 82:8 Arise, O God, Judge the earth: for though shall inherit all nations.

John 9:39 And Jesus said, For judgment I am come into the world, that they which see not might see; and they which see might be made blind.

1 Peter 1:4 To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,

Triunity - Trinity the Three in One Nature of God

Matthew 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost;

One Name = one God meaning that the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are all equally, yet separately, the one and only God.

Deuteronomy 6:4 Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) LORD:

The Hebrew word used for "one" is (Echad, 259) which means one untied group as opposed to (Yachiyd, 3173) a single, alone, one.

Activities and functions of God

Creation

Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God (Gods-Father, Son, Holy Spirit) created the heaven and the earth.
The first word in the Bible to describe God to us is the Hebrew word (Elohim, 430) which is the plural form of El (God) meaning Gods.

John 1:3 All things were made by Him (Jesus); and without Him was not anything made that was made.

Job 33:4 The Spirit of God hath made me, and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life.

Resurrection of Jesus

Galatians 1:1 Paul, an apostle, not of men, neither by man, but by Jesus Christ, and God the Father, who raised Him from the dead;

John 10:17,18 Therefore doth My Father love Me, because I lay down My life, that I might take it again. No man taketh it from Me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of My father.

Romans 8:11 But if the Spirit of Him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, He that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken (make alive) your mortal bodies by His Spirit that dwelleth in you.

Sinned against by mankind

Genesis 39:9 ... how then can I do this great wickedness and sin against God?

Luke 24:7 Saying, the Son of Man (Jesus) must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.

Ephesians 4:30 And grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

Forgiveness of man's sins

Hebrews 8:12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.

Colossians 1:14 In whom (Jesus) we have redemption through His blood, even the forgiveness of sins:

Hebrews 10:15-18 Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that He had said before,... and their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.

All of these events took place Before, During and After the physical earthly appearance of Jesus, proving that Jesus is indeed the Promised Savior of Mankind that the Prophets of the Holy Bible spoke so many times about.

In Jesus the Christ (Messiah) we Christians do have the True, Living, Loving, Savior, God to put all of our trust, our hopes and our cares into.

God Bless You!

*note this thread along with the other Basic Topic threads are intentionally in a read only folder because they are intended for individual personal reflection and devotion, while the many other threads are available for discussion and all of these topics or similar topics are discussed in detail in other threads.

I do though want to post an addition to this thread because there has kind of been an interesting development regarding this topic of the Bible proclaiming Jesus as God.

That is that a couple of non-Christians have remarked that it really seems silly to post Biblical proof that Jesus is God and their point is that of course the Bible proclaims Jesus as God because that is what the Bible is written about. Now they dont believe the Bible because they think that the Bible is only written by humans and not inspired by God.

But even as non-Christians they rightfully understand the Topic and Content of the Bible they just have not yet chosen to follow it, so it really does underline the obvious message of the Bible which is "Jesus is God" and that this message is universal to the Bible it is only a few unconventional cult groups that determine that the Bible does not specifically and repeatedly present to the world "Jesus as God in the flesh."

I also wanted to make the point that many of the visitors to this Basic Christian forum are non-Christians, probably half the visitors are not Christian and I do want to acknowledge your visits and let you know that you are welcome here.

Lastly this article "Biblical Proof that Jesus is God" is by far the most popular article on our Web Site so I have updated it a little and put it into the PDF format for downloading.
